Needles: US #3 DPNs, and US #8, either DPNs or Circulars

Size: Premies to Newborn

Gauge: 4.5sts/1 inch on the bigger needle, circulars

I made this hat for Stitches from the Heart. I just joined last month and been making a lot of stuff since all I do these days is study for the silly exam called California Bar Exam. =D =D =D I was so depressed yesterday after going over Business Association, and in an attempt to cheer me up, my boyfriend drove me over to Michaels..

I haven't been to Michaels in a LONG time, since the bar prep started; I was happy to find Loops and Threads yarns there. I knew that Michaels had a makeover in their yarn department; this was my first visit since they had the makeover.  I felt around some Vanna's Choice and Lion Brands Baby Soft, but I liked the feel of Loops & Threads. Soft, not metallic or shiny or slippery. I used to like shiny yarns like Caron's Simply Soft, but can't stand them now. They look too fake and acrylic. Now, I have nothing against acrylic, and I love them as mucha as I love other natural fibers, but I think all my time and effort should result in something that looks classy and natural.

With that being said, here's the pattern. I knit it without one but wrote down some notes afterwards. Most knitters would not even need this pattern, but I hope that even the knitter with the most elementary skill would be able to make this and donate. So here you go.

I'm sure as the winter season approaches (or is August too early for non-knitters?), interest in knitting seems to increase in the general public. Well, that's perfect because that means more people can supply handknit baby blankets and hats and clothes to many babies in need in the harsher weather.

You've got to agree. If I had any other hobbies or other charity obligations, I wouldn't have been able to do much during my bar prep. I made this hat while studying for Civil Procedure and California Distinction!
