FO: Effortless Cardigan

3 out of 14 done. :)

Effortless Caridgan Pattern: Effortless Cardigan by Hannah Fettig Yarn:  Patons Classic Wool "Natural Mix" almost 5 balls Needles:  US size 6

So, this is my 3rd FO out of 14 WIPs/UFOs since April. Deadline is as you know, July 22, 2011.

I first saw this pattern on Ravelry and I had to make one. It looks, well, exactly what the name implies: effortless. As someone who dresses up everyday, this cardigan looked PERFECT for those cold days in the office, a quick walk with Bagel, a warm cover-up while knitting in the patio. I so badly wanted something really easy to wear, nothing too tight, too flashy, too trendy, or dressy.

I've already gotten a lot of compliments on it. I really love the ribbed borders and how neatly the borders frame the long fronts.

and the yarn color was perfect. The original pattern calls for Madelinetosh Tosh DK, which normally sells for $18~19.50 online. And you would need about 5 skeins of it, making this a $100-project.

I don't care if I have a job.

I can't justify spending $100 on one project yet.

So I was shopping for yarns, thinking to spend anywhere between $50~$80. And then it was Black Friday (yah, last year). I went to Jo Ann at 6 AM, and saw this yarn. I grabbed 10 skeins. The color reminded me of the Tosk DK yarn used in the pattern. Sure, this is not the most luxurious yarn, but the color looks awesome, it was on sale (I spent about $20 total on this project), and it's super warm.

I'm a fan of Hannah Fettig now. I have several patterns of her, and I think my next project by her is gonna be Gooseberry Cardigan .  It looks really similar to Effortless but it's lighter weight and I could see myself wearing this to Casual Fridays.
