WIPs & FOs: Fawn Ear Flap hat & Lady Sybil Sock

Fawn Ear Flap hat from Boutique Knits

Pattern: Fawn Ear Flap hat
Needles: US 15
Yarn: Rowan Big Wool in "Cloud"

There are only a few knitting pattern books that really take my breath away. I mean, there are a lot of books that are informational, and good for reference. But for pattern books, the ones I buy or borrow from the library for the actual designs, are only a handful.

Boutique Knits by Laura Irwin is one of those. The book was published few years ago and I probably borrowed it from the library about 10 times. :D I made this Side Slip Cloche for my mom a couple of years ago and she loved it. Usually she isn't too impressed with my knitting (she was a fashion designer with her own label and boutique) but that hat (in Malabrigo Rios in "Black")

Fawn Ear Flap hat is knitted in a super bulky yarn, so I chose Rowan Big Wool. I had to buy the ribbon from JoAnn to match it but it was such a quick project. I finished the hat in one evening, the next morning I went to get the ribbon and blocked the hat!

Lady Sybil Socks in Zen Serenity 20 Glitter Sock in "Sea Slug"

Pattern: Lady Sybil Socks by Jean Chung
Needles: US 1
Yarn: Zen Yarn Garden Serenity 20 Glitter Sock in "Sea Slug" colorway

I also finally finished the Lady Sybil Socks in Zen Yarn Garden Serenity 20 Glitter Sock yarn in "Sea Slug" colorway, which was given to me courtesy of A Good Yarn Sarasota

The yarn is so beautiful, and I'm in love with my new socks. I modified the pattern to lengthen the legs (the original pattern is ankle high), and didn't include the peep hole.

WIP: Aidez in Fantasia Wool Alpaca

Pattern: Aidez by Cirilia Rose
Needles: US 10
Yarn: Fantasia Wool Alpaca

I am still knitting away on my Aidez. The yarn is really soft. I'm always amazed at the quality of the cheap yarns I get from Korea. They usually have acrylic in the blend, but for some reason, they always feel higher in quality than acrylic blend yarn in the U.S.

I decided to modify the fronts so that I can knit a little bit faster. I hope to finish it within this week!
