Quickies... ;)

No, you dirty minds. I mean quick knits. =) You know, with all this time I have now post-bar, you would think I'd have more time for knitting and I'd finish all these mega projects like fair-isle sweaters, or something.

Surprisingly, I don't. I have to make time for other things that I managed to overlook while studying for the bar, so I actually don't knit as much as I hoped to. I'm reading more, studying Japanese, getting my car oil changes and smog check.

So I tend to keep small projects all over the house and bags. I mean, literally. I have a pair of socks in my actual knitting bag. I have a small baby jacket I'm making for a friend's baby (due in November) in my regular bag. I have a finished, ready-to-be-weaved-in vest I made for Dad, on a chair by the desk. I finished so many fingerless mitts, and a pair needing thumb gusset now.

On top of all that, I have been test-knitting/sample knitting for designers. I have done this before, for a little bit, but I'm really getting into it this time. It's really fun. I figured, this would be the best way to learn how a design/pattern come together, and some new techniques.

One that I did was: Eluned Hat and Mitts, by Baxter Knit (Cindy Guggemos)

Yes, photographed in my own bathroom. =D

Yarn: Vanna's Choice in "Chocolate" 100% acrylic (need to use up all my acrylics!!!)

Pattern: Eluned Hat and Mitts (this takes you to the Ravelry page)

Very lovely lace~ It was easy to keep track of. In fact, I finished the hat on the first day, and mitts on the second day, blocked, and third day I took pictures. =)

I think these will be great Christmas gift knitting projects. The lace pattern doesn't really make the mitts any less warm or anything. I put them on, thinking, great! perfect for so cal winter! but nah, these are still as toasty as hot chocolate. =)
