Hi.

I’m just here to talk about fashion, life, books, knitting and sewing.

KAL 2012: Andover

I love fall.. And I love knit fabrics that fall flat. So for Twist Collective's Fall 2012 issue, I designed a cardigan/jacket that embodies my love for the tailored look, easy knitting, in broken rib.

As you can see here, I'm almost done with the body, and will be starting the sleeves soon. The broken rib pattern is very easy to remember, and the body knits up very quickly. The only thing you have to watch out once you start the decreases for the armholes and neckline, is really the stitch count. The default stitch pattern is given in the Note section of the pattern, but once you start the decreases, the default stitch guide won't work.

The same advice applies to the sleeves too. For this tailored look, I chose to work the sleeves in the round and shape the sleeves with short-rows. While working on the short-row shaping, maintain the ribbing pattern. It's really easy and once you figure it out, it'll go very very fast.

I'm working my Andover with Malabrigo Worsted in Sunset (96). This will be my very first Malabrigo sweater! I am so excited. Yes, this yarn has its flaws, with all the pilling and fragility. But really, I still love this yarn that much more because of its fragility. It's like butter and smells great. Whenever I see this yarn in the LYSes, I just have to get at least one skein. I just can't believe I haven't had a chance to make an entire sweater out of my favorite yarn until now.

So, hopefully everyone's doing okay with their KALs. Shoot me an email or PM on Ravelry if you have any question at all. :)
